Nemours is seeking a Strategic Project Manager to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Orlando, FL.
The Project Manager is responsible for oversight, management, and delivery of multiple, complex site and regional projects and/or programs, aligning to strategic roadmaps, expansion and growth of physical operations, and operational efficiencies, across the system through all phases of the project management lifecycle. This individual works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advance projects and strategic initiatives, achieving defined milestones and objectives, on time and within budget using a range of project management and continuous improvement methodology, tools, and techniques. In partnership with the project sponsor and owner, this individual is responsible for effectively managing project resources and tasks, proactively identifying issues, risks, barriers, and challenges, coaching the project team to develop countermeasures to mitigate risks, clearly communicating and escalating barriers, and driving timelines.
This role requires an exceptional individual who is intellectually curious, enthusiastic, a problem solver, detail-oriented, and a self-starter. The role will have broad exposure across business and clinical operations, corporate services, and all levels of associates and leaders, requiring excellent communication and extraordinary levels of customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in project and program management and experience managing complex workstreams with some experience with data analytics.
Essential Functions
• Facilitation - facilitates and guides cross-functional teams to make decisions, overcome barriers, accomplish tasks, and achieve common goals, preparing thoughtfully in advance and adapting as necessary to manage communication, creativity, conflict, and participation. Demonstrates high performance through the management of multiple, complex site, regional, and systemwide projects and/or programs with a life span from anywhere between 3-6 months to multiple years, using appropriate project management and continuous improvement methodology, tools, and techniques. Works well with project team members and functional leaders to define work packages, estimate effort, determine resource capacity, and establish consensus on project activities.
• Delivery - exhibits accountability driving assigned portfolios and projects to successful implementation, from initiation through closing, using project management and lean processes, tools, and techniques. Delivers high quality value added strategic portfolio, programs, and projects, which meet the identified goals and objectives, and are the result of excellent project management planning, implementation, and organizational skills.
• Time Management & Organization - effectively manages all project phases with accountability for multiple deliverables. Defines and tracks project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan. Manages critical path workflows and cross-functional dependencies; collects and analyzes project metrics to manage initiatives and drive accountability; identifies and resolves bottlenecks; escalates and communicates project related issues to mitigate risks. Rigorously manages scope to ensure deliverables are achieved within the agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters. Executes project plans and schedules for multiple workstreams; evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of projects and initiatives; drives stakeholder engagement, defines metrics and develops executive updates.
• Communication - builds strategic relationships through collaboration with project stakeholders to develop and drive goals. Creates and utilizes appropriate tools and techniques to ensure project sponsors, owners, and stakeholders are engaged and informed about project and program status, issues, risks, barriers and/or challenges.
• Leadership - takes initiative, and is self-directed, while thriving in a setting requiring collaboration and teamwork for maximal efficiency and effectiveness. Demonstrates ability to effectively respond to time sensitive issues, meet deadlines, and manage shifting priorities, in a timely and thorough manner. Has a keen attention to details and ensures follow through on all project related activities.
• Problem Solving - uses established escalation mechanisms to identify, document, and seek resolution on major problems and risks, along with a willingness to go above and beyond to resolve problems by encouraging ongoing identification of barriers and facilitating problem solving using continuous improvement principles.
• Teaching/Coaching - teaches and trains individuals and project teams on the habits, disciplines, and tools to support a successful strategy, project management and continuous improvement culture. Assists project sponsors and owners in identifying appropriate opportunities and metrics for successful implementation of projects and initiatives.
• Completes additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by associate's supervisor.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required. Experience in project management required. Experience in strategy deployment, continuous improvement, and healthcare preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
More than 3 years of direct experience in project / program management and project team facilitation. Experience in applying project management principles from methodologies such as Agile. Foundational knowledge of continuous improvement problem solving methodologies and lean leadership preferred.
