Description:

The Accounts Receivable and Billing Manager role at Mac Papers and Packaging, a member of the Customer Experience organization, is part of a team of highly motivated, customer-oriented individuals seeking to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers and drive performance of the organization. This role will direct initiatives to improve working capital, including account monitoring, aligning AR DSO and DSO cycle times, and maintaining healthy sustained cash flow. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)

Essential Position Functions:
  • Serve as a team leader and coach for the national Mac Papers and Packaging Accounts Receivable and Billing departments while collaborating with cross-functional teams from the business including finance, procurement, sales, and customer service.
  • Sponsor and lead performance improvement and key process improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the AR and billing practices, including automation and best practices.
  • Create, implement, and maintain workflows, policies, procedures, and controls for AR and Billing processes.
  • Manage the global invoicing cycle to ensure the high volume of customer invoicing and ensure all receivables are promptly processes and accounted prior to month-end close.
  • Record daily cash receipts accurately, apply to invoices, and research discrepancies.
  • Maintain a log and research discrepancies associated with manual billings and work with cross-functional teams to perform remediation analysis and drive continuous improvement efforts across the function and the business.
  • Setup, manage, and troubleshoot multiple customer portals and points of invoicing origination/submission.
  • Participate in the financial statement close process by accurately preparing journal entries, reconciliation, or other analysis as requested and required by the Controller.
  • Manage monthly AR close process including reconciliation of AR sub-ledger to GL and preparation of AR month-end schedules, revenue reporting, and reconciliation to GL.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to solve departmental, cross-functional, and cross-cycle order to cash process issues.
  • Provide and perform mentoring and training for members of the Accounts Receivable and Billing teams.
  • Create and maintain an ongoing enablement program to ensure members of the AR/Billing team are consistently working toward process improvement and working under leading practices.
  • Assist in the development of practices supporting audit excellence and gather documentation for audit requests.
  • Develop global KPIs and complete financial analyses and analyze AR and billing data to identify trends and provide insights to management for decision making.
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Build relationships with cross-departmental leaders and customers to address and resolve customer billing issues and disputes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • BS in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years billing/invoice and accounts receivable experience.
  • 2+ years of team/people leadership preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Experience using ERP accounting platforms (Infor M3, SAP, Sage, Syspro).
  • Experience using AR automation platforms such as BillTrust.
  • Working knowledge of EDI and customer billing portals.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
  • Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
