The Role We're looking for a motivated accounting student to join our Finance & Accounting team as an intern. You'll get hands-on exposure to construction-industry accounting, a specialized niche within GAAP that most students never see in the classroom, while working alongside CPAs and finance leaders on live, real-world work. This isn't a "make copies and get coffee" internship. You'll be doing real analysis with real data, with direct mentorship from our VP of Finance and accounting team. What You'll Work On Assist with monthly financial close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entry supportSupport Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule preparation and analysis under the percentage-of-completion methodHelp track and reconcile subcontractor change orders and owner change orders (COs) across active projectsAssist with accounts payable review, vendor documentation, and expense coding accuracySupport ad hoc financial reporting and data analysis using Sage Intacct and ProcoreLearn how construction financial data flows from the field (Procore) into the general ledger (Sage Intacct) and payroll/HR system (UKG)Participate in special projects, including process improvement and reporting automation initiatives What We're Looking For Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Sophomore standing or above preferred)Strong Excel skills; comfort working with data and numbers in detailInterest in construction, real estate, or project-based accounting a plus, but not requiredDetail-oriented, organized, and eager to learnStrong communication skills and a willingness to ask questionsAbility to work on-site in Melbourne, FL Why MEC Direct mentorship from experienced CPAs and finance leaders, not just busyworkExposure to construction accounting, a specialized and in-demand skill setReal experience with enterprise systems (Sage Intacct, Procore, UKG) that translates directly to a resumePotential path to a full-time offer upon graduation for strong performersFront-row seat to how a $250M+ contractor runs its finance functionExposure to a finance team actively modernizing with AI and automation, not a department stuck in spreadsheets and paper
