As the Risk Oversight Lead for Commerce Payments in the Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management group, you will serve as a second line of defense partner to Digital Payments and Card Payments teams. You will partner with the business to evaluate the risks of new product features (e.g., digital wallets, tokenization, co-brand programs) and changes to existing payment experiences-recommending controls that both protect our firm and provide a great customer experience. You will also partner closely with Legal, Compliance and Controls to advise on issues and concerns, as well as perform advocacy to help educate, inform and drive a positive risk culture.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments evaluating new payment features or modifications to existing services to ensure that the line of business has identified all the risks and has included appropriate controls
  • Maintain deep, practical understanding of the end-to-end wallet and card payment flows you oversee at the level required to credibly challenge assumptions and propose alternatives
  • Have a working knowledge of cross-channel controls that are used to mitigate inherent risk in Digital
  • Represent second line expectations with consistency and judgment-enabling delivery where risks are understood and mitigated, and escalating when risk acceptance is unclear or controls are not commensurate with exposure.
  • Collaborate with the business to solve problems but escalate within the risk management framework when the business exposes the bank to risk in an unsafe way
  • Stay current on emerging trends in provisioning, tokenization, authentication, technology, and digital financial services translating external threat evolution into actionable oversight
  • Communicate complex issues in a clear, business-forward way to senior stakeholders framing the risk and control gap, decision options, with the recommended path.
  • Work effectively as an individual contributor and collaborative team member on simultaneous projects, including cross-functional teams
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, and subject matter experts


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years in a control function (Audit, Controls, Operational Risk Management, Information Risk Management, Compliance) or other relevant function
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to defend positions and influence with quantitative analysis developed with an analytical team
  • Ability to work effectively with both business and technically oriented individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment
