Safe Harbor Rybovich is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field. You will travel to various job sites within the Safe Harbor network, to make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as cimolai lifts, marine travel lifts, Marina Bull (wiggins) forklifts, man lifts, scissor lifts, diesel compressors, fleet vehicles, and more. Applicants should have some experience with off road, diesel heavy equipment repair so they can determine what parts and tools are necessary for repairs. This role involves using a tablet to run diagnostic tests and enter job information. This position may also be referred to as Facilities Assistant.

Hours

  • Monday - Friday, 7am - 5pm
  • At least two Saturdays per month, 7am - 12pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
  • Operate equipment listed below but not limited to:
    • Marine Travel lifts
    • Cimolai lifts
    • SH Fleet vehicles
    • Pickups, flat beds with trailers, and vans
    • Marina bull lifts
    • All forklifts from 6, 000 lbs to 30, 000 lbs
    • Manlifts exceeding 125’ high
    • Scissor lifts – electric, gas and diesel up to 50’ high
    • Golf carts – gas and electric
  • Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
  • Troubleshoot issues with gasoline engines
  • Troubleshoot generator issues
  • Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
  • Complete shop paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Availability to work overtime when required
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must possess own hand tools
  • Post-secondary certificate, dealer training, or 3 years apprentice under certified mechanic preferred
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair preferred
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Knowledge of engine and system interrogation equipment preferred
  • Previous marina experience preferred
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of basic power tools preferred
  • Knowledge of dock construction and repair preferred
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Any skills considered standard that a Facilities Assistant should possess
