What will I be doing?As a Banquet Captain, you wouldoversee the execution of all banquet functions from food presentation, set-up, break-down, and oversee all catering staff. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Supervise food and beverage service to ensure property standardsand procedures are consistently used throughout all banquet events
- Assist with the planning, organizing and execution of all banquet functions by utilizing the detailed banquet event orders for each event
- Supervise, train, schedule and evaluate all catering staff
- Prepare and ring up all catering invoices for all events
- Greet on-site contacts for all catered events and respond to all their requests
- Special projects and assignment for continuous improvement
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform acombination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon particular requirements of the company.
- Responsible for end of shift duties including, but not limited to billing, cleaning event space and all work areas, returning banquet bar inventory, and releasing staff
- Responsible for the performance of the banquet staff, including direct supervision of the banquet staff, and provides leadership to the entire banquet staff
- Oversees all in-house function and meeting only groups as needed
- Assign and supervise general cleaning tasks using standard hotel products as assigned to adhere to health standards
- Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
- Collaborate with catering/sales, Food and Beverage Managers and the Culinary team to ensure that quality service is provided for all meeting and banquet guests
- Manage the cost and quality control of banquet services
- Be an active liaison between the guests and other Hotel Staff to ensure outstanding customer service while maintaining company procedures and complying with company policies
- Check with facilities, catering and culinary for any last minutes changes
- Perform monthly inventories and order supplies as needed in collaboration with the Food and Beverage Director
- Complete administrative tasks as assigned by Director of Catering

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with staff
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and serviceware
- Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and in making sound decisions
- Leadership and organizational skills (team orientation, flexible, adaptable)
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to perform under pressure effectively for extensive periods of time while maintaining professionalism
Experience - Minimum 2 years experience in banquets, food and beverage, conference services or relation discipline is required
- Minimum 1 year experience in direct supervision and management preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Positive interpersonal and customer service skills required
- Proficiency in the following software required: MS Word, Excel
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of position
- Must have a basic working knowledge of Audio/Visual equipment and set-up
