Information Technology Network Administrator


GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position will be engaged in professional work which is standard in nature in the ITS (Information Technology Services) Department including intermediate technical support of hardware and software services in information technology serving the Hillsborough Aviation Authority organization. Employees in this class are expected to support the resolution of intermediate work problems and tasks under limited supervision in one or more of the following areas: network support, battery backup systems, copper and fiber optic infrastructure systems and associated components. Work requires creative and original thinking and is performed under the direction of more senior ITS staff. A highly customer service driven approach is required. This role typically reports to the ITS Senior Manager of Enterprise Network Services.


Contract position with an end date of September 30, 2025.

Compensation: $38.46 hourly and up based on experience

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Provides hardware installation, maintenance and support for the Authority’s network infrastructure and communications rooms.

· Provide timely and accurate resolution to IT support requests, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, network connectivity problems, and system errors.

· Document all support interactions and resolutions in the IT ticketing system, ensuring thorough and accurate record-keeping.

· Escalate complex or unresolved issues to the appropriate IT teams for further investigation and resolution.

· Supports resolution of intermediate incidents and problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions.

· Takes ownership of assignments and works as part of a team with an appropriate sense of urgency.

· Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, to peers and management.

· Works on projects related to network equipment installs.

· Complies with and enforces IT security policies.

· Assists in troubleshooting network outages quickly to ensure desired uptimes.

· Experience working in technology sensitive areas such as Data Centers, IDF and MDF rooms.

· Familiar with industry standard Core, Distribution, Access network hierarchy.

· Familiar with fiber and copper cable plants preferred.

· Coordinates with network & telecom teams on all moves, adds, changes as they relate to network and VoIP systems.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

· Associate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or a directly related field.

· Four years of applicable information technology experience.

· Additional relevant education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirement.

· CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA preferred.
