Description:

Under the general direction of the GA Capital Projects Manager, the GA Capital Projects Multitrades Worker III is responsible for performing a variety of capital facilities construction activities, including both interior and exterior building rehabilitation at the Authority’s three General Aviation airports. The role involves participating in the erection of small structures and complex alterations, as well as overseeing the repair and maintenance of various systems. Additionally, this position ensures that adequate building materials are maintained for project completion and includes responsibilities such as performing concrete and asphalt repairs.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $27.91 - $31.75 Based on Experience


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs repair and maintenance tasks on electrical, plumbing, and water systems and fixtures, as well as brick, cement, HVAC, and carpentry work.
  • Operates power equipment and various hand tools safely and efficiently, including medium to heavy motorized equipment.
  • Oversees maintenance project activities independently, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to standard.
  • Conducts concrete and asphalt repairs to maintain safe and functional surfaces at the airports.
  • Monitors project progress and report on status, identifying any issues that may affect timelines or quality.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and best practices during all construction and maintenance activities.
  • Assists in the development of project plans and layouts, estimating materials and determining required tools and equipment.
  • Conducts regular inspections of work areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
  • Responds to emergency repair requests as needed, ensuring quick resolution of issues.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Standard Procedures, Rules and Regulations, and Operating Directives.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Two (2) years experience in construction, maintenance, or related field.

  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of various procedures and techniques used in multiple construction trades, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Knowledge of the construction and maintenance requirements for different types of buildings and facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the appropriate use of safety equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Skill in operating hand and power tools effectively and safely during construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, dragging

  • Reaching overhead, kneeling, crawling, and climbing up to 6 hours per day
