GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Electronics Supervisor, the Electronics Technician performs the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electronic equipment and systems, ensuring their efficient operation across a range of applications, from consumer electronics to complex industrial systems. This role involves troubleshooting and solving problems effectively, with a focus on systems such as voice and data communications, fire alarms, access control, CCTV, and public address systems. Additionally, the position includes coordinating with vendors, maintaining accurate records of equipment and service activities.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $25.55 - $28.11+ Based on Experience


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Installs, modifies, calibrates, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of electronic equipment and systems at the component level.
  • Conducts training and provides operator-level troubleshooting, installation, and configuration of life safety and security systems.
  • Performs regular preventative maintenance functions and conduct building assessments, including physical inspections and digital reporting.
  • Monitors the operation of electronic systems to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies' standards and specifications.
  • Designs, constructs, assembles, and rearranges circuits and devices as necessary for operational and testing purposes.
  • Inspects and coordinates work performed by authorized vendors or contractors to ensure adherence to project specifications and guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Standard Procedures, Rules and Regulations, and Operating Directives.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • One (1) year verified work experience to three (3) years of experience in the installation. maintenance, or repair of electronic systems, or a related field.

  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Electronics Technician -ISCET, CEA, NARDA, NCEE.

  • CAT Commercial Audio Technician.
  • Industrial Electronics.
  • COMPTIA ITF+.
  • CompTIA NET+.
  • RFID Radio Frequency Identification Technical Specialist.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

  • Standing and walking up to 6 hours per day.

  • Frequent sitting.

  • Frequent lifting up to 50 Ibs or more.

  • Bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, dragging, reaching overhead, kneeling & crawling up to 6 hours per day.

  • Frequent typing.

  • Very frequent exposure to extreme weather.

  • Occasional exposure to noxious fumes, chemicals & insects.

  • Navigate continuously heights and confined areas.

  • Very frequent use of car/ light truck.

  • Frequent use of heavy equipment & power tools.
