Description:

Under the general direction of the Building Maintenance Manager, the Building Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair activities of skilled trades and maintenance personnel for the Authority. This role is responsible for estimating materials and determining equipment needs for various tasks. Additionally, the Building Supervisor will develop and update maintenance policies and procedures, monitor compliance with safety standards, and ensure operational efficiency while maintaining accurate records and reports of all work performed.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $30.92 - $39.42 Based on Experience


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Responsible for their subordinate employee’s welfare and care, individual training in the conduct of their duties and mentoring.

    • Reviews subordinates work performance, conducts open and honest performance check-ins, appraisals, initiates corrective action or discipline as necessary.

    • Ensures subordinates meet authority standards in personal appearance, maintains and accounts for equipment as instructed.

    • Monitors, prioritizes, and inspects work activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, standards, and safety regulations.

    • Plans job layouts and creates drawings or sketches for maintenance personnel to execute tasks effectively.

    • Creates requisitions for equipment, tools, and materials in a timely manner to meet maintenance and construction schedules.

    • Assists in developing contract specifications and oversee the performance of contracts to ensure compliance with construction and maintenance requirements.

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks to ensure a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting potential hazards.

    • Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

    • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.

    • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

    • Associates Degree in Facilities Management, Construction, Business Administration or related field.

    • Four (4) years experience in construction or in facility maintenance and repairs.

    • Two (2) years supervisory or lead experience.

    • Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    • Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Facilities Management Professional (FMP) Certification.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of buildings and plumbing systems.

    • Knowledge of applicable codes, rules, regulations, and requirements related to building maintenance and safety standards.

    • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

    • Ability to make informed decisions and prioritize work across multiple locations to meet operational demands.

    • Ability to analyze and diagnose structural deficiencies or equipment malfunctions accurately.

    • Ability to prepare technical specifications for equipment acquisition and repair projects.

    • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and address issues in a timely manner to ensure operational continuity.

    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.

    • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.

    • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES

    • Standing and sitting up to 6 hours per day.

    • Frequent sitting.

    • Frequent lifting up to 50 Ibs or more.

    • Very frequent bending & stooping.


    • Frequent pushing, pulling, dragging, reaching overhead, kneeling, crawling & climbing.

    • Frequent typing.

    • Occasional exposure to extreme weather and excessive noise.

    • Frequent use of car/light truck.

    • Occasional use of heavy equipment.

    • Frequent use of power tools.
