GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Terminal Operations Duty Manager, the Airport Operations Manager – Terminal is responsible for assessing, evaluating, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of airport operations to ensure a premier customer experience. This role maintaining a safe and secure environment through regular inspections. Additionally, the position involves managing emergency response efforts, resolving operational issues related to airline passengers and tenants, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and county regulations.

This position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of our 24/7 operations.

Requires availability for emergency call-in.

COMPENSATION: $75, 000/ANNUALLY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises airport facilities and safety functions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conducts regular inspections of Airside, Landside, and Ground Transportation areas to maintain a safe and secure airport environment.
  • Resolves operational problems involving airline passengers, airport guests, tenants, public safety, and security in a timely manner.
  • Manages and coordinates emergency response efforts related to safety, security, and aircraft incidents.
  • Provides information and guidance to representatives of various agencies, governmental officials, and employees regarding airport regulations and procedures.
  • Oversees inspections of airport facilities, apron areas, gate positions, terminal buildings, and ground transportation lots to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Manages the allocation of aircraft parking gate and hardstand resources to maximize efficiency and minimize customer impacts.

· Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.

REQUIRED FOR ALL HCAA JOBS

  • In the event of an emergency or disaster that impacts the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority (HCAA), an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department or the HCAA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may be before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
  • Complies with all HCAA Policies, Procedures, and Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)

  • Associate's Degree in Airport Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in airport terminal operations at a medium to large airport, or similar experience.

· Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

· Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations governing airport operations.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and ability to develop and implement emergency plans.
  • Knowledge of airport operations, maintenance and other airport-related activities
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to airport operations and security.
  • Knowledge of terminal operations, ground transportation services, and the intricacies of coordinating construction activities within an airport environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle restricted, sensitive, and confidential information.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service, serve the public, and represent the Authority with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others within and outside the Authority.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES

· Occasional lifting up to 50 Ibs or more.

· Occasional bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, dragging & reaching overhead.

  • Shifts are 10hr in duration. There are three shifts, a day shift consisting of the hours of 0500 to 1500, a mid-day shift with the hours of 1500-0100, and a ground transportation shift that is scheduled from 1000 to 2000. Schedules and days off are bid by seniority. Hours and scheduled days are subject to change and the position is salaried. All who fill this role will bid a shift, which will include holidays, and will be required to report back to work during emergencies, urgent situations, special events, and inclement weather.
