High Grove Golf is hiring a Sous Chef in Venus, FL. This is a full-time position.
About High Grove High Grove is a private destination golf club in Venus, Florida, offering a highly personalized golf and hospitality experience. Members and guests often stay overnight, allowing our culinary team to be part of the full experience - from breakfast and lunch to post-round cocktails and dinner. Our service style is warm, attentive, and personal, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and detail. Position Overview The Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations and delivering a consistent, high-quality culinary experience for High Grove members and guests. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for food preparation and execution, team supervision, organization, sanitation, inventory, and maintaining culinary standards across daily service. The ideal candidate is an experienced culinary professional who leads by example, communicates well, and thrives in a high-standard, team-driven environment. Success at High Grove requires flexibility, attention to detail, and an understanding that every meal contributes to the overall member experience. Key Responsibilities • Support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations, food preparation, production, and service. • Execute high-quality dishes with consistency in flavor, presentation, portioning, and timing. • Supervise and coordinate cooks and culinary team members during preparation and service. • Maintain established culinary standards and address quality or execution issues as they arise. • Assist with menu development, seasonal offerings, daily features, and special member or guest requests. • Help manage inventory, ordering, receiving, stock levels, storage, and product rotation. • Train and develop culinary team members through clear direction, coaching, and hands-on leadership. • Maintain an organized, clean, and service-ready kitchen throughout each shift. • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and allergen-handling standards. • Accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests thoughtfully and safely. • Communicate closely with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage team to support a seamless member experience. • Maintain a flexible schedule based on club operations, including weekends and holidays as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or club leadership. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; culinary education preferred. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-quality or high-end culinary environment. • Previous supervisory or kitchen leadership experience preferred. • Strong culinary knowledge, organization, communication, and time-management skills. • Ability to lead by example and work collaboratively in a team-focused environment. • Food safety certification required within 30 days of employment. • Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests, and team members. • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Physical Requirements • Ability to work flexible and extended hours when required by club operations. • Continuous standing and full mobility throughout the workday. • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 70 pounds. • Ability to work safely in both hot and cold kitchen and storage environments.
