Job Description:

A Shift Lead Person should be able to demonstrate:

  • A safety-first mindset. The Shift Lead must promote safe work habits and express positive support for OSHA guidelines, Greif policies, the commitment-based safety and quality (CBSQ) meeting structure, good housekeeping, and daily continuous improvement.
  • Respect for management, office staff, vendors/suppliers, and all crew members.
  • The ability to make a positive impact on daily production and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Good communication skills with the ability to lead Line Board discussions that focus on lean manufacturing techniques, continuous improvement, operational goals, projects, Preventive Maintenance (PMs), and opportunities.
  • The ability to manage team members and Work Order flow to successfully accomplish the manufacturing and operational objectives of the shift.
  • The ability to address productivity and quality concerns with crew members while keeping leadership informed of issues. The ability to plan ahead and support equipment setup/changeovers, as needed. The ability to effectively set up and run much of the equipment in the facility, to include the main production lines and associated saws.
  • Competency in the execution of lockout/tagout (LOTO) on a particular machine and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of the location and operation of machine controls (including E-stops). Competency in the execution of quality control checks and customer/product specifications.
  • Active engagement in problem-solving activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the willingness to learn other operating systems, such as Greif’s SBP/LN production system.
  • The ability to effectively train other colleagues in all the above.
