Your Job

We are looking for a motivated Manager, Human Resources Business Partner to join the HR team at Georgia Pacific's Pulp and Paper Mill in Palatka, Florida. This high-volume manufacturing operation uses state-of-the-art technology to produce bath tissues and paper towels widely used in homes and businesses across the country. Located just south of Jacksonville and west of St. Augustine, the Palatka mill employs more than 1000 people, has six paper machines, and several converting lines. It produces consumer tissue products such as bath tissue and paper towels sold under the Georgia-Pacific Angel Soft®, Quilted Northern®, Brawny®, and Sparkle® brands.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for building company culture, enhancing organizational capability, strategically partnering with operations leaders and supervisors, and helping people and businesses transform. This critical role in a union work environment offers an opportunity to make a significant and immediate impact at the local facility. Responsibilities include developing an effective partnership with the business to enhance the employee experience, fostering a Principle-Based management culture, and driving profitable growth and long-term value for the Consumer Products Operations platform. This HR role should continuously improve the quality of services, especially by advancing the business vision, driving key strategies, and achieving desired results.

What You Will Do
  • Develop strong relationships and trust with the workforce and leadership team.
  • Ensure employees understand how they create value for the company, identify and address talent gaps, and coach supervisors on developing talent plans.
  • Enhance leadership capabilities and promote transparency and accountability in talent management, leadership development, and culture.
  • Understand, develop, apply, and coach supervisors and employees in the application of our culture.
  • Handle labor relations, including grievances and contract interpretation.
  • Understand business performance drivers and support delivering results.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Drive innovation in HR functions and processes, including continued automation of transactional work and leveraging shared capabilities across the business.
  • Leverage data-driven solutions to support business and advance results.
  • Identify HR compliance risks and develop gap closure plans to address risks while implementing a systematic approach to maintaining compliance.
  • Be forward-thinking to anticipate needs and issues before they arise.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • At least five years of relevant Business HR experience with responsibility for HR outcomes.
  • Experience developing and aligning initiatives to accelerate the achievement of strategic business objectives.
  • Ability to achieve results through direct ownership as well as through partnerships.
  • Labor relations experience, including grievances and contract interpretation.
  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment supporting employees directly.
  • Experience in an HR Manager or HRBP role.
