Please note: This position is contingent upon contract award. The anticipated award date is in the first quarter of 2027. Any employment offer extended will be conditional upon contract award and successful completion of all required pre-employment processes, which may include background checks, drug screening, verification of work eligibility, and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, if required by the position.

What You'll Do:

Responsible for managing and overseeing the construction, modification and repair of marine craft and floating structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess project requirements and ensure the construction is accurate to the design proposals and specifications provided.

• Interpret and analyze test results/data for the detailed drawings.

• Provide technical advice while assisting naval architects and staff as needed.

• Develop and utilize test procedures including computer modeling and scale models.

• Ensure adherence to appropriate health and safety legislation/standards.

• Manage and negotiate the project budget, timescales and specifications with clients.

• Responsible for training and the evaluation of naval architects.

• Confer with Marine Engineers on various projects.Education & Credentials:

• Bachelor's degree in marine engineering, naval architecture or a related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

Experience:

• 15 years relevant experience in shipbuilding.

• Experience with cost, schedule and performance as it relates to subcontract oversight.

• Experience with Program and Personnel Management, Financial Management, and Risk Management Assessment.

• Experience with Government contracting preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.

Competencies:

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to review project work, quantities, costs, accuracy of specifications, completeness and constructability. Ability to interpret architectural/engineering drawings, specifications, codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees. Knowledge of and ability to utilize design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Knowledge of principles, practices and concepts of project management. Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols, and procedures as they pertain to environmental health standards.

Working Conditions:

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
