Work Arrangement: Monday - Friday 6: 00am - 2: 30pm with the possibility of working overtime and holidays.

What You'll Do: The Motorized Mechanic will be responsible for structure repairs and maintenance for all mechanics on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulics. Conduct regular on-site inspections of diesel engines, transmissions, and other related equipment to determine needed repairs. Troubleshoots and makes appropriate repairs, including electrical and brake systems, landing gear, suspension, tires, and wheel group.

PAY: Based on current contract

*Benefits are provided for employees.Experience:
  • Must have 2 years of verifiable Motorized Equipment mechanic experience, specializing in Diesel repair and troubleshooting on Detroit, Cummins, Perkins, Volvo, and Caterpillar Diesel.

    • Minimum three (3) years of verifiable experience working with Top Loaders and Reach Stackers.
    • Must have full knowledge and formal training in repair of Drive Trains, Clutches, Allison and ZF Transmissions and Brake systems.
    • Must have full knowledge and formal training in Hydraulics such as steering, Lift Ram cylinders, Hydraulic Pumps, etc.
    • Must be able to perform repairs within the time allowed in the Motorized Equipment Section "Flat Rate Schedule".
  • ALL GENERAL MAINTENANCE: Engine, Transmission, Hydraulics, Air and Brake Systems.


  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: Must know D.O.T lighting requirements and regulations and be able to diagnose/troubleshoot electrical problems by flat rate schedule or in a reasonable time allocated. replacement of alternator battery, and starter.


  • BRAKE SYSTEM: Must know D.O.T brake system requirements/regulations and be able to diagnose/troubleshoot brake system problems and all types of brake repairs and preventive maintenance. replacement or repair of brake shoes, cam shafts, brake drums, brake chambers, air compressor, air tank, and brake valve.


  • TIRES: Be able to identify and report any of the following tire defects:

* Flats or under/over inflated * Mismatched tires

* 2/32 or less tread depth * Abnormal wear

* Cap separation * Proper rim & locking applications

* Sidewall wear

Technical Skills:
  • Must be able to insert data into a system using a mobile electronic.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and work from service directives and technical instructions.
  • Must furnish small hand tools used in tire repair: pliers and probes for removing nails and 2 lb. hammers.
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Must have legible penmanship.
  • Have or are willing to attain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) badge.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Work outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to squat and stoop to remove/replace tires or other wheel components. May require extended use of mobile electronic devices and ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
