SUMMARY: The Director of Commercial Accounts is a senior leadership role within Land Transportation responsible for overseeing and expanding Crowley's portfolio of commercial freight brokerage accounts. This individual will lead the account management job family, drive revenue growth, ensure operational excellence and be accountable to the delivery of exceptional service to our customers. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, carrier sales, and finance. Director will also be accountable for maintaining high customer satisfaction while maximizing profitability across all modes of freight (LTL, FTL, intermodal, etc.).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee a portfolio of high-value commercial clients across multiple industries. Develop and execute strategic account plans to grow wallet share and retain long-term business. Serve as the executive point of contact for key clients, addressing escalations and ensuring service excellence. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of account managers and customer service representatives. Set team KPIs and performance goals; monitor metrics and provide coaching and training where needed. Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts. Collaborate with the sales team to identify new business opportunities and facilitate smooth client onboarding. Develop pricing strategies in alignment with company targets and market conditions. Partner with carrier management and logistics operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant freight movement. Support continuous process improvement and client-specific service innovation. Deliver regular reporting on account performance, revenue trends, and customer satisfaction metrics. Use data to forecast trends and develop action plans to mitigate risk and capture new opportunities. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, logistics or related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 6-8 years' experience with transportation and logistics for truck and rail shipments. 5 or more years' experience in truck brokerage or IMC business. Past experience leading a team is required.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Proficient with computer programs that are used to manage and match shipment movements. Experience with Blue Yonder, Power BI is a plus.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills with proven leadership ability. Ability to train others. Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of DOT regulations. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to apply skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Knowledge of environmental and legal issues that affect transportation of various commodities.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
