What You'll Do:

Responsible and accountable to establish consistent, reliable carrier capacity that supports customer needs while negotiating competitive rates and aligning carrier strategy with network and service requirements through development of the carrier sales team.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Carrier Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of carrier sales representatives to build strong carrier partnerships, secure reliable capacity, and negotiate competitive rates within the freight brokerage industry.

• This role plays a critical part in driving revenue growth, improving network efficiency, and executing carrier strategy aligned with market conditions.

• The Carrier Sales Manager provides coaching and mentorship to enhance sales performance, negotiates complex agreements, and leverages market insights and CRM tools to optimize decision-making.

• Success in this role requires strong leadership, advanced negotiation skills, analytical problem-solving, and a deep understanding of transportation market dynamics.Education & Credentials:

Bachelor's degree in business, transportation or related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

Carrier Strategy and Relationship Management: Demonstrates the ability to build, manage, and grow strategic carrier partnerships that support reliable capacity, network alignment, and long-term value creation.

Negotiation and Market Expertise: Applies advanced negotiation skills and deep understanding of transportation market dynamics to secure competitive rates, manage risk, and optimize margins.

Leadership and Talent Development: Effectively leads, coaches, and develops high-performing carrier sales teams through clear expectations, consistent feedback, and performance-focused accountability.

Operational and Data-Driven Execution: Leverages CRM systems, analytics, and performance metrics to drive execution, improve network efficiency, and enable informed decision-making.

Problem Solving and Cross-Functional Influence: Resolves complex issues, manages escalations, and collaborates across functional teams to align carrier strategies with broader organizational objectives.

Experience:

10 years' industry experience with 3 - 5 years in a supervisory or management position within the 3rd party carrier sales structure.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Mcleod knowledge a plus.

Job Scope:

Position impacts a single business unit/segment.

Working Conditions:

Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.
