What You'll Do:

Responsible for overseeing the proper manning of vessels by ensuring mariners possess the required qualifications for assigned positions and coordinating timely, cost ‑ effective travel to fill billets. Develops and executes strategic manning plans for fleet vessels, including forecasting crew requirements, establishing training schedules, and providing professional development guidance to support mariner growth and readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the subject matter expert on crewing while working with minimal supervision.

• Responsible for proper crewing of vessels across the fleet.

• Ensure vessels are staffed with qualified, physically fit, and capable mariners for all required positions.

• Verify all crew documents, credentials, and regulatory compliance (USCG, MLC, training, medical/drug ‑ free, customer/contract requirements).

• Identify discrepancies and upcoming expirations in personnel qualifications.

• Develop strategic crewing plans and forecast crewing requirements based on skill level, training, availability, and security clearance needs.

• Arrange timely and cost ‑ effective crew travel to and from vessels.

• Collaborate on training schedules and assist in identifying training needs and development plans.

• Provide professional development guidance and support succession planning for mariners.

• Prepare and maintain accurate personnel records in coordination with other company departments.

• Understand and apply multiple union contracts, customer requirements, and regulatory position requirements.

• Interact with union hiring halls to dispatch mariners and assist in the union/employer grievance process when needed.

• Provide timely, proactive customer service and direct communication to vessels, mariners, and internal stakeholders.

• Support standardization and streamlining of departmental processes and training.

• Produce reports on workforce, utilization, and assignments as required.

• Participate in unemployment hearings when necessary.Education & Credentials:

High School diploma or equivalent with 1 to 3 years' experience in marine crewing operations or Associate/Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

1 year working in the maritime industry required. 1-3 years of experience in marine crewing operations preferred. Experience in a high-paced, detail-oriented role requiring attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service skills considered.

• Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope

• Must be available/on-call after hours for emergency crew requests

• May require travel to multiple locations
