A Registered Nurse or Epidemiologist responsible for Infection Prevention Program development, Implementation, Coordination, Surveillance, Monitoring and Compliance and monitoring at the Inpatient Facility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as the Infection Preventionist and fulfills role requirements for the facility(s), including but not limited to:
- Maintains knowledge of Federal, State, County Standards and Regulations regarding Infection Prevention and Control
- Maintains knowledge of Joint Commission Standards for Nursing Care Centers regarding Infection Prevention and Control.
- Daily surveillance, tracking and trending of community and healthcare system acquired infections
- Provides facility staff education on Infection Prevention, upon hire and at regular intervals as well as when needed based on facility assessment
- Maintains required education and training as outlined by AHCA, CMS and any other regulatory or accreditation bodies
- Maintains confidentiality of patient, staff and proprietary information.
- Adheres to policies and procedures specific to patient rights.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; identifies and reports hazards.
- Meets all requirements for mandatory education including annual TB Test and Flu compliance.
- Adheres to policies/procedures specific to universal precautions when delivering patient care.
- Adheres to policies regarding attendance, conduct, grooming, and dress code.
- Promotes a positive image of the company to outside agencies and the public.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as needed.
- Exhibits excellent service to patients, resident, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Shows courtesy, compassion and respect for all customers.
- Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Complies with professional, regulatory, ethical and legal standards.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field preferred (Epidemiology) Prefer certification in Infection Control CDC and/or Occupational Health Certification.
- Three years of prior full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse or epidemiologist in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of OSHA and CDC requirements as pertaining to infection control in institutions are required, including knowledge of infectious disease and transmission of same and disinfection and sanitation techniques.
