Description:

The Director of Patient Financial Services is responsible for managing and controlling all phases of the Outpatient Business Office revenue cycle operations to ensure the institution realizes a maximum cash flow and money position; accurate and timely billings and collections from patients and third-party payers.

Responsibilities:

  • Control the Business Office functions effectively ensuring that a maximum cash flow is maintained.
  • Establish and control credit and collection policies to ensure quick identification and action on accounts requiring outside credit assistance.
  • Manage and coordinate billing functions related to external programs such as Brooks Clubhouse, Wheelchair Clinic, Pool, etc.
  • Maintain close coordination with revenue departments to ensure accurate and timely flow of billing information.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, and provide accurate and timely contract management information.
  • Provide educational and training opportunities for staff members to ensure professional development and their ability to provide quality patient care.
  • Implement and maintain the annual operating budget, ensuring that operations are managed within the established guidelines.
  • Select, train and evaluate subordinates and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and organization philosophy.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems designed to improve workflow and enhance the collection/cash flow process.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and Goals for all department staff and Monitor these goals and provide feedback monthly at a minimum.
  • Ensure that fee schedules and proration rules are up to date and loaded properly in the system.
  • Report monthly to Network Operators regarding Accounts Receivable/Aging, Bad Debt, Cash Collections, and other Key Department Performance Indicators.
  • Monitor Adjustments to ensure the system is updated and working properly.
  • Monitor the Billing process to ensure that claims are being processed timely.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Creates and leads teambuilding activities quarterly.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures specific to patient rights.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment; identifies and reports hazards.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining required continuing education and other necessary credentials.
  • Meets all required mandatory in-services.
  • Adheres to policies/procedures specific to universal precautions.
  • Adheres to policies regarding attendance, conduct, grooming, and dress code.
  • Promotes a positive image of the organization to outside agencies and the public.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities as needed.
  • Exhibits excellent service to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Shows courtesy, compassion and respect.
  • Exhibits values of the organization.
  • Complete required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management or Accounting preferred.
  • Five years of progressive business office management experience, including five years supervising 10 or more employees.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills required.
  • Demonstrated use of problem structuring and solving skills, project management expertise and experience working with financial and information systems
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with multiple independent projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills required.
  • Above average analytical and mathematical skills required.

Location: Onsite, 1101 Samuel Wells Complex, Suite 1102, Jacksonville, FL 32216

Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
