Description:
Bluewater Maritime School is seeking a highly experienced steam engineering professional to serve as a Contract QMED – Steam Propulsion Instructor. This role is structured as an independent contractor engagement and offered on a part-time, quarterly basis, making it well suited for seasoned mariners or steam plant professionals who wish to remain professionally active in maritime training while maintaining schedule flexibility.
The Contract QMED Instructor is responsible for delivering in-person classroom instruction for Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) – Steam Propulsion courses. Instruction is conducted in strict accordance with approved curriculum, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) regulatory requirements, and Bluewater Maritime School instructional standards.
The instructor provides comprehensive training on the fundamentals, operation, safety, and maintenance of steam propulsion plants and associated shipboard systems, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, safe operating practices, and practical application of theory. Instructional delivery must be clear, accurate, and consistent with USCG expectations for professional maritime education and credentialing.
