As a General Parts Manager specializing in heavy construction equipment, you will oversee all aspects of the parts department operations. The position's ultimate priority is making sure our parts departments are running efficiently, inventory is being managed responsibly, parts department remains profitable while delivering superior customer service in accord with Alta's Guiding Principles. The role requires strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of heavy equipment parts, and commitment to delivering trust that makes a difference.

The General Parts Manager will report directly to the Florida Director of Parts.

Florida Parts Managers that will be working under the General Parts Manager position.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the parts department team.
  • Set performance targets and staff and monitor their progress.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, policies, and procedures.

The following are the job duties but not limited for this position:

Ensure each Parts department meets the safety and all industry standards, regulations, and laws.

Inventory Management to include:
  • Reduction of obsolete, excess, and surplus inventory through OEM Annual, Semi Annual and Quarterly Return programs.
  • Manage Volvo MMI Orders and reports.
  • Maintain Proper Inventory Levels to support call/demand history and maintaining RSL's to support new models while achieving optimal inventory turn of 3 per year.
  • Ensure weekly parts Inventory Cycle Counting is being conducted and approve large variances.
  • Ensure Monthly Return of Dirty Cores.
  • Manage Fluid inventory- Oils, DEF and Coolants and ensure bulk oils and diesel are being managed locally.
  • Ensure Pricing is kept current in the ERP.


Communicate Weekly Parts Sales Status, GP versus Budget by Branch Location to ensure all parts personnel are aware, engaged and aligned with established goals and objectives.

Monitor Order File Maintenance to ensure the following is keep current including:
  • Parts Will Call File.
  • Open Backorder Report - Stock and Emergency Open Branch Transfers
  • Dirty Core Returns
  • GRNI Report - Open receipts
  • Ensure that parts not showing a bin location are being addressed.


Adhere to and enforce corporate SOX compliance policies, developing remediation policies to address any gaps discovered during audits. Including
    • PSO Delivery Documentation uploads
    • Parts Delivered Not Invoiced
    • Cycle Count Sheet Uploads
    • Purchase Order Packing Slip Uploads
    • Parts Inventory Adjustment Variance Report


  • Participate with suppliers in developing marketing initiatives to increase incremental parts sales.


  • Ensure that Warranty Failed Parts are being properly stored and returned promptly and the tracking log is being updated, scraped items are being recorded in the scrap log.


Other parts-related activities and duties as required/ directed by Regional Director of Parts including:

  • Schedule ongoing technical training according to individual development plans established within the Corporate Training Management.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to retain valuable Parts Managers, Parts Counter

personnel to groom them for the next level Parts employment opportunities according to Corporate Service and Training Management direction.
  • Interact directly with customers Alta Personal on any parts complaints to resolve appropriately and retain customers.
  • Communicate with customers, Top Accounts, Key Accounts, and others to provide ongoing customer support, development of opportunities.
  • Maintaining internal communication so no one member of the team is waiting for feedback or internal information at the end of the day.
  • Responsible for the results of the key parts metrics to ensure Parts Counter Personal are exceeding their KPl's
  • Manage Freight Expense to achieve cost recovery of at least 85%.
  • Visit each branch at least once a quarter.


Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in parts management, preferably in the heavy construction equipment industry.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Proficiency in inventory management
  • Knowledge of heavy construction equipment parts and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
