Enersense Engineering is currently seeking an experienced and motivated
Health and Safety Lead to support one of our key clients on a major infrastructure project located in the Capital Region of Finland. We are hiring on a permanent basis, and the position is set to start as soon as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing team on a technically demanding project for a reputable international client. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and managing the overall project schedule in close cooperation with the client's project and site teams. You'll play a critical part in ensuring timely delivery, resource alignment, and effective coordination across all phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of our client`s Safety Management System across the project
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and internal company standards
- Lead the company's PSCS Environmental, Health & Safety Plans, promoting ownership and accountability across all site teams
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of site-specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Plans of Action, and Permit to Work systems
- Ensure full alignment with the overall Project Execution Plan and corporate EHS objectives
- Drive high standards in safety performance and cultivate a strong, proactive safety culture on-site
- Conduct and manage COSHH assessments and ensure effective control of hazardous substances
- Track and register all safety interventions, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution
- Perform regular site inspections and audits, documenting outcomes and enforcing corrective measures as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records of statutory inspections for all relevant tools, equipment, and plant machinery
- Provide clear leadership and guidance on EHS best practices, supporting staff at all levels
- Monitor and ensure subcontractor compliance with project and company EHS policies
- Coordinate induction and training programs to ensure all personnel are adequately prepared for site operations
- Ensure all necessary PPE is available, in good condition, and used appropriately
- Deliver engaging toolbox talks, safety briefings, and daily activity briefings
- Lead or support accident/incident investigations and ensure thorough reporting and communication with project management
- Ensure welfare and hygiene facilities are in place, compliant, and properly maintained
- Maintain all required documentation within the project's Safety File and ensure it is kept up to date
- Promote waste reduction and environmental initiatives in line with project sustainability goals
Requirements: - Degree-level qualification (Level 8 or equivalent) in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior EHS role on large construction sites, ideally within data center, pharma, commercial, or industrial sectors
- Deep understanding of relevant EHS legislation, regulations, and best practices
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and influence cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility in working patterns, with the ability to adapt to evolving project demands
