Support Worker

Birmingham - Hybrid working

Temporary (approximately 9 months), full time (37.5 hpw)

Pay £12 per hour (Salary £23, 464 per annum) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

Want to be part of a team that really cares and empowers you to help change a customer’s life for the better? As our Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex mental health needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community.

This role is community based as our customers live across the city of Birmingham. We support our customers with housing, benefit/finance, meaningful use of time, health and wellbeing and any other support needs identified by the customer. You’ll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations. Amazing we know!

Typical day as our Support Worker

  • Assisting customers to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
  • Some of our customers can have extremely complex mental health needs, which may not have been diagnosed yet.
  • Helping customers with daily living activities such as budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

  • Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail
  • Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach
  • Recognise every customer is different and you’re able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs
  • To get from A to B, you’ll need a vehicle insured for business purposes. The great news is that we’ll pay your mileage!

Job details

  • Flexible working hours (or we’re open to agreeing a work pattern with you)
  • Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
  • You’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 09: 00 - 17: 00 Monday to Friday. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend it doing the things that matter to you!
  • Although you’ll lone work, we do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
  • Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
