In the heart of Spennymoor, County Durham we welcome customers aged 55+ who are living with early stages of memory loss, offering a safe, supportive and friendly environment.

Typical day as a Cook/Chef

• Take the lead in our kitchen, managing the day-to-day operations with pride and care
• Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining adequate stocks of food, keeping everything running smoothly and within budget
• Plan and create a delicious and various menu for our customers and visitors
• Prepare wholesome, freshly cooked meals tailored to the dietary needs of our customers
• Responsibility for the overall cleanliness of the kitchen, pantries etc.
• Maintain stock sheets and do stock checks as required

Job details

• Work 5 days per week on a 7‑day rolling rota, from 10: 00am to 1: 15pm each day.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 - however if you don’t have this already it can be done once in the role.
• You’ll need a Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.

This is a perfect role for anyone looking to balance work with school runs, caring responsibilities, or other daytime commitments.

You bring

• Previous experience in catering work
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to keep calm under pressure
• An understanding of the principles of confidentiality
• Flexibility and ability to relate to vulnerable people with sensitivity

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.
