Home, a place where you belong

We have a brilliant job opportunity for you to join our awesome team as our Financial Inclusion Associate.

We support our customers nationally by telephone. We maximise their income through Benefit Checks and Budgeting and help them to be more financially confident. The cost-of-living increase has had an impact on our customers’ money, and we are here to help them manage the extra costs.

Typical day as our Financial Inclusion Associate

  • Engaging customers over the phone, offering them tailored advice to enhance their financial stability through supportive conversations
  • Analyse and assist in maximizing customers income, guiding them through benefit checks and practical budgeting strategies.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the housing management team, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to support customers in sustaining their tenancies.
  • Leading on vital campaigns, proactively reaching out to customers experiencing changing circumstances or identified needs, making a tangible positive impact.

Fancy going home each day knowing that you have helped change our customers lives for the better? You’ll do that here, working for a top 10 Great Place to Work in the UK employer!

You bring

  • Strong Customer Service skills having worked in a customer focused environment before and are confident and comfortable working and building relationships on the phone.
  • An understanding of welfare benefits and are up to date on recent issues, and are an advocate on welfare rights.
  • You have the ability to talk to others, have difficult conversations and deliver messages in positive ways. You’re able to stay calm. As money is a very personal subject, it can be emotive.
  • The ability to lead our campaign work, so you will be responsible for proactive contact with customers whose circumstances may be changing or where there is likely an identified need. You thrive in teamwork, collaborating smoothly with stakeholders to benefit customers.
  • A knack for problem-solving, swiftly devising solutions to enhance financial well-being, using your natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life to foster their confidence in managing finances.
  • You are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.

Our team

You’ll be working alongside Mark, our Financial Inclusion Manager, and the rest of our dedicated Financial Inclusion Telephonist Team. We’re a passionate, driven group who take pride in the positive impact we make each day. No two days are ever the same in our fast-paced and rewarding environment, and we're incredibly proud of the fact that we helped more customers than ever before in the last Financial Year.

Job details

  • This is a hybrid role and in an average week, you’ll spend 2 days working from our offices in Newcastle upon Tyne or Durham.
  • You will work from home the rest of the time.
  • And no matter where your office base, you’ll travel to meet the team on occasion plus we catch up each day
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.

A place where you belong

Great things happen when we can be ourselves at work. We want all our colleagues to be who they truly are here. Our internal diversity networks, peers and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) support us all to be our best. Together we make Home Group a great place to work!
