Building Surveyor

The office base is Wellington Street, Leeds; however, this is a hybrid role, current working pattern is two days in the office and the rest from home. National travel is expected a couple of days per month

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw)

Salary, £40, 000 - £45, 000 per annum (depending on experience) with great benefits!

As our new Asset Building Surveyor, you’ll be part of the Building Surveying and Asset Delivery team, a small but mighty group known for tackling some of the trickiest projects. You’ll use your technical know-how and creative thinking to look at our housing stock with fresh eyes, seeing what could be better, and how to make it happen.

You’ll manage your own projects from start to finish, with plenty of support when you need it. This is a role that gives you real ownership and the space to grow, backed by a team that’s all about collaboration, problem-solving and doing the right thing for our customers.

Typical day as an Asset Building Surveyor

· Undertake building surveying and inspections, providing creative solutions to maximise asset performance, which might range from complicated defect issues, non-trad stock, existing schemes which require re-configuration to new viable uses.

· Analysing existing stock data, collecting additional information from specialist consultants and preparing long term investment plans.

· Delivering bespoke projects from initial findings through spec, appointing project teams and driving forward to completion.

· Ensuring we have a good commercial understanding of our assets by evaluating and carrying out financial appraisal of schemes.

· Attend site meetings regularly to perform the function of the client, keeping our project teams and other key stakeholders informed of any variations.

You have

· A MRICS or MCIOB, accredited Building Surveying degree or equivalent strong experience built up through your working profession.

· Experience of working on projects (private or public sector) as a Building/Projects Surveyor, from inception to completion including appointing the project team and securing all approvals. You’ll have experience of the planning system and implementing compliant and approved schemes including decent homes plus.

· Expert in investigating, diagnosing and conducting complex property conditions surveys, carrying out inspections, specifying remediation works and working with external partners.

· A current knowledge of building construction, design and CDM requirements. Good knowledge of relevant codes of practice, building regulations, legislation, standards and materials.

· Experience in the creation of tender and construction documentation schedules of work, specifications, drawings produced using AutoCAD Lt, and MS project.

You’ll join John and Vik in our Building Surveying and Asset Delivery team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We have delivered £1million property conversions, multi-million portfolio refurbishments and remedial works projects, and have a significant retrofit programme underway.

We work nationally to resolve the most challenging projects and are a team who work hard to solve problems together. We’re a supportive bunch and are looking for someone to help identify and drive forward the next stage of our work programme.

Job details

· Full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. You’ll manage your own diary. If you need a break to take delivery of your new fridge or take a longer lunch, you can use your flexi time to manage that!

· Flexible hybrid working, based from our office at Leeds two days a week and from home, with expected national travel a couple of days a month.

· You’ll need a full UK current driving license and access to a vehicle for business use, we’ll pay for your mileage.
