🔎 About the Role

This role is responsible for managing and optimising cargo and shipment flows through the LHR Hub's automated sorting system. The position ensures that all shipments are routed efficiently and achieve planned connectivity to destinations while meeting customer requirements, operational standards, and safety regulations. Support the department through data analysis and project to drive continuous improvement and building knowledge across systems, Power BI, and other technologies and tools.

✅ What You’ll Be Doing

·Full flexibility required to cover Sort control (SC) (Days/Nights/Weekends)

·Cover the SC Supervisors responsibilities during breaks and when they are on leave or off shift.

·Monitor sorter volumes, SCADA, SATS Readiness and WebSentinel, identifying issues and communicating required actions to Ops, ITS, NCC and engineering teams.

·Provide effective handovers to the following shift, consolidate and upload LRT/BEE data, respond to tracing requests and reweigh queries.

·Upkeep of SC work instructions and training material and assist in the training of new employees and any employees who provide emergency cover.

·Work with the Senior Data Analyst to develop skills in Microsoft Access, Power BI and Excel, supporting data maintenance, reporting and forecasting to drive performance improvements across the LHR Hub.

·Collaborate with department manager, sort control team and other departments to actively drive continuous improvement and achieve department KPIs.

·Develop and maintain excellent working relationships NPG, C& L, SQ, IT/UK Apps, Engineering, Operational and Facilities.

·Lead projects where required and use expertise and team feedback to effective address challenges. Support engineers/IT/Facilites with fault diagnosis, testing and resolution of mechanical or system issues.

·Execute NRUs/Daily updates or changes from NPG/C& L to the sort plans and on AHS accurately and on time, challenging requests where they may conflict with operational or system considerations.

·Communicate changes when required to all relevant parties as required

·Ensure all sort incidents are reported using the Incident report process, updates sent in a timely manner and mention on shift report.

·Share new skills, knowledge and insight acquired with other sort controllers to ensure team is up to date in skill set and knowledge on any new initiatives (eg Power BI, SATs etc..)

·Monitor and ensure that all required standards such as Health and Safety, Security, ISO9002, GSOP as well as the strict laws pertaining to Customs and Excise, Dangerous goods and DFT are fully complied with.

·Actively promote Health and Safety by completing and log H& S conversations and near misses
