Description:

The Manager, Research Data and Analytics plays a critical role in the leadership of the Biomedical Research Informatics Center (BRIC), ensuring alignment with the organization's overarching technology and governance strategies, policies, and standards across business, application, data, and technology perspectives. They play a vital and collaborative role by providing research data management and analytics expertise to investigators within the Nemours enterprise and external collaborators, including those in the University of Delaware INBRE and PEDSnet research communities. Responsibilities encompass the management and mentorship of a team comprising data analysts, data architects, and developers. This team will be instrumental in building and maintaining data infrastructure supporting research studies, registries, and clinical trial recruitment.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and maintaining best practices related to patient privacy, data security, and data reusability. Under their direction, the team will focus on transforming electronic health record (Epic) data, supplementing clinical data with geospatial and area-based measures, managing data sets for national data networks and collaborations, and delivering data sets and reports to support research collaborators throughout Nemours. Additionally, the Manager, Research Data and Analytics will engage with principal investigators and clinical domain experts to understand data requirements for study participation. Responsibilities:
  • Develops clear and business-focused technology strategies and solution roadmaps within a specific information systems domain. These strategies are easily understandable for the business, highlighting how selected solutions align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Leads and actively participates in all aspects of designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions for the Nemours Biomedical Research (NBR) domain.
  • Takes a significant role in establishing and maintaining crucial technology governance processes, such as the Data Review Board and/or Data Governance Committee.
  • Researches and selects appropriate technologies for solutions, creates technical content for RFI/RFPs, and guides the evaluation process. Assists in estimating budgets for implementing selected solutions.
  • Supervises a team of data analysts, developers, engineers, and architects including providing regular feedback and of conducting formal performance reviews.
  • Drives the improvement of research technical processes, methods, and tools, including assessing resources for data and other relevant systems.
  • Takes charge of root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution teams to address chronic production issues. Presents findings, recommendations, and specifications through formal reports or oral presentations to Supervisor, Project Manager, and/or Peers.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to review solution objectives and constraints, ensuring alignment with the enterprise data infrastructure. Identifies implementation risks and potential impacts on NBR and scheduled objectives.
  • Mentors and coaches teams on data resources and tools as needed.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in programming with SQL, Python, R, or equivalent languages

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree Required. Degree in computational field such as computer science, engineering, health information management or equivalent. Advanced or Master's degree or equivalent on the job experience preferred
    • Strong preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience with health-related data. Additional consideration will be given to applicant with experience in:
      • Collaboration with research scientists and clinician researchers
      • Requirements gathering
      • Technical communication (writing and oral presentations, documentation of code)
      • Previous experience in recruiting, mentoring, and supervision of data analysts
