Description:
The Exercise Physiologistis primarily responsible for improving the health of children, adolescents, and their families by using exercise for disease treatment and prevention.
This position will develop and provide supervised exercise rehabilitation in both the individual and group setting based on patient needs. Will monitor patients and adjust exercise rehabilitation program based on patients' tolerance, mental health, and medical needs. Will communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple service areas to provide the highest level of patient care.
Schedule: 6 hours per week . Tuesday and Wednesday 4-7pm.
Essential Functions: Conducts fitness evaluations to determine current level of fitness, assess needs, and track individual progress of patient. Additional assessment of physical ability as needed related to coordination and sports skills to aid in patient participation in school and community exercise programs. Prepares a written evaluation which specifies the examination results and physical activity or exercise ability, prognosis, and intervention plan. Records and generates reports to be distributed to referring physicians and maintained in medical records. Assures proper usage, maintenance, and cleaning of exercise training equipment in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and Nemours' Policies Procedures and Practices. Participates in departmental programs for quality assessment and improvement working with department management and the Medical Director to improve services provided. Serves as a resource person for the hospital and community physicians regarding physiological and exercise issues Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
- A certification related to the prevention and treatment of chronic disease is required (examples: American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist, Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional, Health Coach certification).
