Description:

Nemours is seeking an Echocardiography Operations & Clinical Specialist. The Echocardiography Operational & Clinical Specialist, along with the Medical Director of the Echocardiography Lab, includes operational oversight of the echocardiography lab. Together, this team maintains ICAEL lab accreditation for all services provided, coordinates equipment purchasing and budgeting within each budget cycle, coordinates equipment maintenance and repair with biomed/vendors, supports growth and outreach initiatives throughout the Delaware Valley service area.

The role helps maintain and grow partner (e.g. Jefferson) relationships, supports interdepartmental relationships within Nemours, maintains the educational and CME structure of the lab, establishes and maintains a cadence of communication and process improvements with cardiology counterparts at Nemours-Florida, participates in procedural billing audits, and continuous improvement with other members of the operational teams (internal and external), and works hand in hand with the Epic and Enterprise Imaging Informatics teams to manage and optimize the technical components of the performance, transfer, and reporting of an Nemours and non-Nemours echocardiograms.

Licensures and/or certifications:
  • Active RCCS or RDCS (PE) Required; Active RDCS with Fetal Certification is preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required
  • Associate degree is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred


Experience:
  • Five years Echocardiographic Sonography experience is required.
  • Familiarity with Syngo Dynamics Workplace, ScImage, Radiant, PACS, image transfer/reading platforms (or similar platforms) is required.
  • Supervisory or management experience is preferred.


Echocardiography Sonographer Functions:
  • Actively completes echocardiographic examinations on inpatients and outpatients (ideally both fetal and transthoracic). Completes echocardiographic examinations of inpatients together with an imaging cardiologist (transesophageal, epicardial). *Role is expected to perform Echocardiography Sonographer duties a minimum of three days per week.


  • Functions in Partnership with the Echocardiography Lab Manager:
  • Development and maintenance of an educational program for partner site sonographers as well as regional sonographer schools.
  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination and integration of echocardiographic services within the cardiac center, within other departments, and with partner institutions staffed by Nemours cardiology.
  • Assists in maintaining echocardiography lab accreditation.
  • Supports and participates in national echocardiography lab quality improvement and assurance initiatives.
  • In concert with Nemours biomedical team, vendor support, maintains outreach site equipment in working order so clinical work can proceed without limitation.
  • Enforces and updates relevant department and hospital policy.
  • Assists in purchasing, vendor negotiation processes and cost accounting procedures for echocardiography services, particularly for outreach clinical sites and partner sites.
  • Supports sonographers at Nemours satellite locations through regular site visits and open communication with management.
  • Provides leadership presence in the echocardiography lab particularly in the absence of the Echocardiography Lab Manager.

  • Supports telemedicine initiatives including fetal telecardiology outreach and technical support for both Nemours telehealth-based encounters and Phillips Collaboration Live.
