Description:

Nemours is seeking a Director of Pastoral Care to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.

The Director of Pastoral Care supports all operations of the pastoral care program, maintaining the staffing resources to provide pastoral care services, coordinating the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program including maintenance of standards for accreditation, and developing additional programs to assist patients, families and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Masters level degree in Divinity, Pastoral Counseling, or other appropriate discipline.
  • Certified by a National Pastoral Care Association.
  • CPE Supervisor in the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) and/or Clinical Pastoral Education International (CPEI).

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Pastoral Care Services in accordance with program and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate stewardship of financial resources including donor funding and operational dollars assigned to the program.
  • Provide spiritual comfort to clinical associates/providers, patients and families by visiting patients on a regular basis offering pastoral counseling, religious rituals, and referrals to community religious resources as requested.
  • Coordinate all aspects of CPE program and supervise CPE interns and residents.
  • Maintain College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) accreditation for CPE program.
  • Support Nemours organizational functions including but not limited to medical ethics as well as associate and patient/family exemption procedures.
  • Serve as an innovative leader who integrates and contributes to research and best practice into all aspects of the program.
  • Arrange regular ecumenical services in the chapel representative of the spiritual and cultural diversity within the Nemours community.
  • Serve as an active leadership team member in the Division of Child & Family Services

  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate services and contribute to program development guided by the Nemours Strategic Plan and Mission.
    • Facilitate a collaborative atmosphere between chaplains, providers and interdisplinary team members.
    • Participate in Bereavement program services, including patients as well as associates.
    • Respond promptly to patient and family requests for Pastoral Care support.
    • Foster relations with community religious institutions and organizations.
    • Ensure all programs are delivered in ways that perpetuate a welcoming atmosphere of diversity of spirituality, race and culture.
