We are seeking an Anesthesia Technician to join the Wilmington, Delaware team! The Anesthesia Technician provides technical support to the anesthesia team in preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of anesthesia care to patients. This role involves assisting anesthesiologists, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room (OR), as well as in other procedural areas. The technician is responsible for the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment.
Responsibilities: 1. Equipment Preparation and Maintenance: -Set up, calibrate, and ensure the functionality of anesthesia machines, monitors, ventilators, and other related equipment before procedures.
-Perform routine checks and maintenance on anesthesia equipment to ensure safety and readiness.
-Sterilize and prepare instruments and supplies needed for anesthesia, including airway management devices, syringes, and IV equipment.
2. Assisting Anesthesia Providers: -Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in the induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.
-Provide support during intubations, central line insertions, regional blocks and other related procedures.
-Monitor inventory levels and restock anesthesia supplies in ORs, procedure rooms, and emergency carts.
- Set up IV fluids and tubing in preparation and assist as needed.
-Prepare fluid warmer units for use during fluid or blood transfusion.
-Set up ultrasound with patient info and assist with regional blocks.
-Set up scopes/video laryngoscopes and assist as needed.
3. Patient Care: -Assist in positioning patients for anesthesia administration and surgery.
-Monitor patient vitals under the direction of anesthesia providers.
-Respond to intraoperative emergencies by assisting with the preparation and delivery of medications, fluids, and other interventions.
4 .Safety and Compliance: -Follow all safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and regulatory standards related to anesthesia care.
-Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials, including anesthetic gases and sharps.
-Maintain accurate records of equipment checks, maintenance, repairs and supply expirations.
5. Communication and Team Collaboration: -Communicate effectively with the anesthesia team, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals.
-Participate in preoperative briefings and postoperative debriefings.
-Provide input on process improvements and best practices for anesthesia support.
6. Continuing Education and Training: -Stay updated on new equipment, techniques, and best practices in anesthesia technology.
-Participate in continuing education opportunities and certification programs
Qualifications: - High School Diploma required
- Associate degree or completion of an accredited anesthesia technology program preferred
- American Heart Association BLS required
- Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as an anesthesia technician, or in a related field, preferred
