The Alfred I. duPont Orthopedic Research Fellowship at Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, Delaware is a new year-long program for an outstanding medical student to be immersed in a world-renowned academic pediatric orthopedic department with a long history of research excellence and innovation.
The chosen research fellow will work with some of the most recognized and prolific thought leaders in the pediatric orthopedic profession. Our institution is known for its scholarship in complex diagnoses such as osteogenesis imperfecta, scoliosis, cerebral palsy and progressive neuromuscular conditions, skeletal dysplasia, hip dysplasia, and limb deformities. In addition, our hospital is designated as a Level 1 trauma center and features an accredited gait analysis laboratory.
This fellowship will provide all the tools necessary to be successful in the development and execution of meaningful pediatric orthopedic research projects, with the goal of presenting at national meetings and eventual publication. Substantial research resources including research methods mentorship, IRB support, clinical database access and more will be available.
Who is Eligible? Medical students at all levels of training are encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in pursuing orthopedic surgery as a career and be in good academic standing. Self-starters with abundant curiosity and drive are best suited for this program.
