DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Working in an Agile software development environment, following the principles and practices of Agile methodologies; Spring Framework version 5.x and beyond, including using Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring AOP, and Spring Boot; Developing microservices and distributed applications using Java 8 and beyond and Maven 3.x as the build system; Working with relational databases such as Oracle or Postgres, which includes experience in all aspects of SQL, encompassing Data Query Language (DQL) for efficient querying, Data Manipulation Language (DML) for managing data, and Data Definition Language (DDL) for creating and modifying database structures; Integrating with databases using Hibernate version 5.x and beyond, along with Java Persistence API (JPA); Building RESTful web services using various verbs such as GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE; Implementation using Spring REST and Feign clients for integrating with external systems and APIs; Automated testing, including unit testing, using frameworks including JUnit versions 4.x and 5.x and Mockito for mocking dependencies. This position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: Using Swagger and OpenAPI to document REST APIs for consumption by other development teams; Implementing messaging-based systems using JMS and Kafka including experience with topics, producers, consumers, and streams; using GIT for version control. This position requires any amount of experience with the following: Distributing applications architectures, including microservices, messaging, service discovery, and load balancing; Using Relational Database Service (RDS) on AWS; Designing and developing Java- based applications using object-oriented (OO) principles, design patterns such as Singleton, Factory, Observer, MVC (Model-View-Controller), and Inversion of Control (IoC); JSON formats, including validation, serialization, and deserialization; Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins to automate building, testing, and deployment of applications; Using Atlassian Tools such as Confluence, Jira, and BitBucket as part of the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC).
