The Vice President, Head of Product Innovation leads the strategic direction, development, and evaluation of new and existing products to ensure competitiveness, market relevance, and alignment with enterprise goals. This role is responsible for building and executing a proactive product innovation framework that emphasizes data-driven decision-making, rigorous market testing, and continuous improvement. The VP oversees a team of Analysts and collaborates cross-functionally to drive innovation from concept through commercialization.

Essential Functions for this role include:

Strategic Leadership & Annual Planning

  • Lead the development of the department’s annual business plan and innovation roadmap, aligning with enterprise strategy and growth objectives.
  • Define and track annual goals and KPIs for product innovation, market performance, and team development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the Product Innovation team.

Product Innovation & Market Testing

  • Champion the identification, development, and launch of new products and services based on market trends, client needs, and competitive gaps.
  • Oversee structured market testing and pilot programs to validate product concepts and refine offerings prior to full-scale launch.
  • Ensure all products are evaluated using a proactive, repeatable framework that includes feasibility, desirability, and viability assessments.

Data Analysis & Performance Evaluation

  • Direct the use of data analytics to assess product performance, client adoption, and market competitiveness.
  • Guide the development and use of product scorecards to measure success across revenue, margin, satisfaction, and strategic fit.
  • Lead periodic reviews of existing products to determine optimization strategies or retirement decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Legal, Compliance, and Risk to ensure product alignment, messaging, and regulatory readiness.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for product delivery, implementation planning, and ongoing refinement.
  • Ensure all processes and procedures support innovation goals while maintaining compliance and operational excellence.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team of Product Analysts, providing strategic direction, professional development, and performance management.
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, and analytical rigor within the team to support enterprise-wide product initiatives.

If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services industry with a focus on analytics, product management, customer experience.

  • MBA/MA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the client/needs and Solutions products
  • Knowledge of retirement/financial services product management best practices
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills including demonstrated experience with research, data gathering and ability to think strategically
  • Highly effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills; ability to articulate complex financial services topics
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse, multi-functional teams
  • Proven track record of leading large, cross-functional projects or initiatives
