Job Description
Deloitte is hiring a OGC | Counsel | Disputes Consultant & Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position, and requiring a bachelor degree.
The Counsel - Disputes Consultation & Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) is responsible for representing the Deloitte U.S. Firms in a portfolio of matters in which documents or testimony have been requested, subpoenaed or demanded. The attorney will be responsible for all aspects of each matter, including reviewing the request, preparing any necessary objections and responses, working with legal assistants and fact witnesses to identify relevant information, and providing documents and defending depositions to the extent required. The attorney may assist with the intake process for third party requests and may also assist more senior lawyers in civil and regulatory matters, as circumstances warrant.

Work you'll do
- Handles all manner of third-party requests for information in civil, bankruptcy, regulatory and criminal matters, and in other types of proceedings and investigations.
- Provides critical analysis of issues surrounding document preservation, confidentiality, privilege, client relations, timing, jurisdiction, legal risk, negotiation strategies, compliance matters and/or the need for consultation with the Office of General Counsel (OGC) leadership, DTTL counsel, and/or risk management.
- Analyzes and applies any applicable federal or state procedural and service of process rules and law, to determine and prepare objections and responses.
- Drafts correspondence and reviews and/or revises briefs, stipulated confidentiality orders, third party access letters, affidavits and other legal documents.
- Interviews and works proactively with Deloitte professionals to understand the facts and circumstances underlying matters, to gather documents, and to formulate strategy.
- Communicates with clients' or other counsel and negotiates with opposing counsel regarding scope of production, timing, confidentiality, and other issues.
- May prepare witnesses for testimony and defend depositions as circumstances warrant, and may from time to time work with outside counsel advising Deloitte.
- Coordinates with legal assistants, and e-discovery professionals to gather, review, and produce subpoenaed documents and information.
- Applies existing processes and best practices for handling incoming third party requests, and suggests enhancements to those processes as necessary to address new developments and seize opportunities to handle matters in a manner that is as efficient and to meet or exceed applicable requirements.
- May assist in managing intake process for third party requests and, as circumstances warrant, may also assist senior attorneys in handling more complex matters.

Qualifications
Required:
- JD or LLM from an accredited US law school
- Licensed to practice law in the United States.
- 4 or more years of legal experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
Preferred:
- Prior in-house experience, and with experience handling a substantial and diverse docket of third-party requests.
- Prior experience managing a varied portfolio of matters in an independent manner.
- Prior analytic, critical thinking and writing experience while being able to manage and prioritize multiple projects, apply good judgment, and be capable of providing creative solutions to problems and issues.
- Prior experience and familiarity with Relativity or other document review systems.

- The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $205, 700 to $342, 900.
