Our Bridge Team and Projects
At Tighe & Bond, our bridge engineering team brings decades of experience in delivering innovative, resilient, and community-focused infrastructure across the Northeast. Specializing in the design, permitting, and construction support of a wide range of bridge projects—including vehicular bridges, pedestrian crossings, culverts, and complex structural rehabilitations—we collaborate closely with state DOTs, municipalities, and private clients to meet evolving transportation and environmental needs.

What will you be doing?
As a Bridge Project Manager, you’ll manage the design and delivery of practical, cost-effective bridge solutions—from small roadway crossings to culvert replacements—that improve safety and mobility throughout the region. This role combines project leadership, client engagement, and technical oversight to bring thoughtful infrastructure projects to life. Some of your day-to-day tasks will include:
Project Management: Lead the planning, design, and execution of municipal bridge projects across Connecticut, including small- to mid-scale bridges, culverts, pedestrian bridges, and rehabilitations.
Client Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison with municipal clients, ensuring clear communication, responsiveness, and trusted partnership throughout project delivery.
Design Oversight: Supervise the preparation of design documents including structural analyses, construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with CTDOT and local standards.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with roadway, drainage, environmental, and geotechnical teams to ensure coordinated project solutions.
Permitting Support: Oversee and support local and state permitting processes, including Inland Wetlands, Flood Management, and CTDEEP reviews.
Construction Phase Services: Provide technical support during construction, including shop drawing reviews, field visits, and contractor coordination.
Team Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, support staff development, and foster a collaborative, problem-solving work environment.
Proposal Development: Contribute to proposal writing, scope and fee development, and client interviews to help grow our municipal bridge portfolio.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut (or ability to obtain promptly).
Minimum of 10 years of bridge design experience with increasing project management responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and CTDOT design and permitting processes.
• Proven track record managing bridge projects for municipal clients, including rehabilitations and replacements.
• Proficiency with structural design and analysis tools (e.g., STAAD, RISA, or similar).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and technical teams effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Federal and State funding programs such as LOTCIP, STP, and the CTDOT Local Bridge Program.
• Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS.
• Working knowledge of environmental and permitting regulations specific to Connecticut.
• Experience with construction phase services and field problem-solving.
• Active involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE or CSCE.
