ary architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, is seeking an experienced
Senior Project Water/Wastewater Engineer with 8 - 15 years' experience, who has a background with Project and Client Management. In this role, you will work alongside other engineers, developing and executing Water/Wastewater design work for both public and private clients. You will also coordinate the efforts of both in-house and outside teams who handle architectural, structural engineering, MEP design, and civil engineering services.
Job Responsibilities Project Leadership & Management - Manage and lead medium to large infrastructure projects from inception through planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction.
- Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and delivery to meet established performance goals.
- Function as Project Manager with responsibility for technical production, team coordination, and overall project execution.
- Prepare and manage cost estimates, project schedules, and design tasks to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
- Lead construction administration and supervise construction observation efforts.
Technical Engineering & Design - Plan, design, and oversee construction of water and wastewater conveyance systems, including pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, treatment systems, and related infrastructure.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering construction packages, including drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis and calculations, leveraging design software to solve complex technical challenges.
- Lead planning and design efforts for water supply, treatment, distribution, and wastewater systems.
Permitting, Bidding & Regulatory Coordination - Prepare and deliver permit applications to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Assist clients with public and private bidding procedures and participate in bid evaluations.
- Coordinate project execution with internal technical divisions, external partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
Client Engagement & Business Development - Support the preparation of proposals, including technical writing, scope development, and budget preparation.
- Engage directly with municipal, industrial, and private-sector clients to support project development and ongoing relationships.
- Participate in marketing planning, client presentations, and interviews for prospective projects.
- Represent the firm through outreach to technical societies, industry groups, and trade organizations.
Team Leadership & Mentorship - Supervise, mentor, and support engineering and design/drafting staff, fostering technical development and project excellence.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and build the team's overall technical capabilities.
Education and Qualifications - 8-15 years of progressive experience in the planning, design, permitting, and construction of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including conveyance systems, treatment facilities, and pump stations.
- Bachelors' degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
- Licensed professional engineer in the State of NJ/NY-Or ability to gain reciprocity
- Experience working on both public and private water/wastewater projects.
- Proven background in delivering multi ‑ discipline infrastructure projects and navigating NYSDOH/NJDEP permitting processes.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving engineering proposals, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing projects through commissioning and startup phases.
- Strong data analysis and technical problem solving abilities. ‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency with engineering software and tools required for design, analysis, and project delivery.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and client relationship management skills . ‑relationship management skills.
- Ability to mentor and train junior engineering and technical staff.
- Active participation in relevant industry organizations (e.g., AWWA, WEF) preferred.
The salary range for this role is $95, 000 - $140, 000 annually.
