The Business Development Lead on the Pharmacy Clinical Strategy Team will play a key role in shaping our pharmacy clinical programs/products. This individual will be responsible for:
- Driving product ideation, design and overseeing development.
- Developing go-to-market strategies.
- Leading the rollout of initiatives focused on pharmacy clinical programs, formulary, and utilization management solutions.
A strong background in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) is essential to successfully navigate the complexities of this role. This position requires a strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and a commitment to delivering impactful solutions in the pharmacy and clinical space.
This Product Manager will work closely with pharmacy product peers in Networks, Benefits, and Clinical Programs, as well as with Clinical Program Management, Clinical Operations teams, and Express Scripts/Evernorth colleagues. Other key non-pharmacy specific functional areas include Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Marketing and Communications teams. Product development opportunities will be focused on increasing customer growth, delivering best-in-class customer/client affordability, aligning client, customer, prescriber, pharmacy and health plan incentives, promoting holistic customer health and well-being and providing a best in class, differentiated customer experience.
Primary Responsibilities Key leader on Pharmacy Product, Clinical Strategy team- Provide leadership as a "go-to" resource on clinical product strategy team for clinical programs, formulary, and utilization management. Generously share, experience and insights as well as provide direction, collaboration and assistance.
- Demonstrate curiosity to understand "how" and "why" existing systems/processes operate the way they do. Use knowledge gained to enhance product design and inspire new product solutions.
- Develop strong relationships across multiple functions areas
Manage a portfolio of pharmacy product development projects in various stages of the product life cycle. Be responsible for final product design, market positioning, internal/external communications strategy and overall customer/client experience. - Finalize, prioritized, product development concepts and articulate go-forward project scope and approach.
- Finalize project business case, using research, data and scenario modeling to demonstrate full understanding of range of potential outcomes
- Develop product positioning, launch and overall communication strategy. Socialize widely to confirm full organizational alignment and support.
- Drive executive level understanding and excitement for new product offerings, building credibility and trust as the primary subject matter expert for Pharmacy Product.
- Lead product development project team as owner. Work efficiently with multiple internal and external stakeholders to overcome any/all design, build and launch challenges
- Make day to day business decisions to manage project scope and budget to agreed upon deliverables.
- Update on project progress to executive leadership as required
- Provide functional level education, training and support as required
- Champion new product offerings during development, launch and ongoing utilization.
Participate in pharmacy product, extended leadership team activities. - Provide input on recommended future direction and focus of Pharmacy Product team
- Assist with identification and prioritization of new product development opportunities
- Contribute to pharmacy product team best practices to drive continuous improvement
- Contribute to the continuing education and development of the leadership team through sharing of subject matter expertise
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in health care product development or strategic business development in a health care setting
- Working knowledge of health plan / Pharmacy Product Management (PBM) experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to organize thoughts and vision into presentation ready deliverables
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to quickly translate ideas and insights into presentation ready documents
- Excellent meeting facilitation and organizational skills. Excellent presentation skills to leaders
- Demonstrated ability to work with remote personnel to achieve agreed upon goals and objectives
- Strong financial, analytical, quantitative and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated decision making capability
- Comfort with complex systems and processes
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to execute on multiple projects and excel in a results-orientated environment
- Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP's etc.)
