Summary of Role:

The Vice President of Clinical Compliance oversees the clinical compliance program across the portfolio to ensure consistent, pro-active adherence to all local/state/federal regulations. This position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight in records management, risk management, survey readiness, and clinical training. The VP of Clinical Compliance works collaboratively with community leadership, clinical staff, residents, and team members to sustain and continuously improve the organization's established compliance infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the nursing compliance program, leveraging the organization's existing structure in records management, risk management, survey readiness, and staff training.
  • Oversee and audit the maintenance of resident records and clinical documentation to ensure alignment with organization standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and strengthen records request processes across communities, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant responses.
  • Lead risk management initiatives related to residents, including incident review, trend analysis, and development of corrective action plans to mitigate clinical and regulatory risk.
  • Drive survey readiness efforts across all communities; serve as a primary resource during regulatory surveys and coordinate post-survey follow-up activities.
  • Design and deliver ongoing compliance training and education for clinical staff and Wellness Directors, including classroom in-services, situation-specific coaching, and e-learning resources - no less than twice per year.
  • Participate in QAPI and safety committee meetings; analyze data to identify compliance trends and drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on assisted living regulations, medication administration standards, and occurrence reporting requirements to ensure all communities maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and manage regulatory survey processes, coach community teams on survey etiquette, documentation practices, and interaction with surveyors.
  • Develop and maintain inter-disciplinary and third-party relationships to support collaborative, compliant care delivery.
  • Perform regular, routine site visits to assigned communities to monitor compliance standards and provide on-site support.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports, summaries, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, and community stakeholders regarding compliance expectations and outcomes.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Health Sciences, Nursing, Risk Management or a related field preferred.
  • Nursing license preferred but not required if experience in other relatable areas.
  • Deep knowledge of assisted living regulations, medication administration requirements, occurrence reporting, and long-term care compliance frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing or supporting regulatory survey processes, including survey readiness, surveyor interaction, and Plan of Correction development.
  • Experience with records management, risk management programs, and clinical documentation standards.
  • Strong background in developing and delivering clinical compliance training and education programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; working knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and eMAR systems preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to clinical teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with community staff, residents, families, and regulatory bodies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear and write in English. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk sit, and use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel and squat. The employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds. Other: Use of telephone, repetition of computer and keyboard, use of small appliances and office equipment, and ability to deal with hot and cold temperature fluctuations.
