JOB SUMMARY Plan, coordinate, and direct a vibrant community life program and meaningful life enrichment activities, based on residents' interests, preferences, abilities and needs. Recruit, train, supervise, and support life enrichment assistants and volunteers. Develops internal and external community-life partnerships and resources. Coordinates the life enrichment resident review and contributed to resident care plans, and other required documentation.

POSITION OVERVIEW • Organize programs for group and individual activities based on each resident's individualized needs and wants.
• Maintain a balance of recreational activities including physical, social, religious, diversional, intellectual, and creative.
- Coordinate Residents Council and other resident committees or meetings.
- Ensure daily group activities are carried out and resident engagement is at full capacity.
• Coordinate scheduled activities with other departments.
• Communicate programs to residents, resident's families, volunteers, and facility staff.
- Prepare and post Monthly Life Enrichment Calendars indicating scheduled activities and times. LE Calendar should reflect residents' physical, intellectual, social and cultural and religious interests, appeal to both men and women and all age groups living in the community. Activities will take place in a variety of locations (i/e., indoor/outdoor and community based activities), and include seasonal and special events.
- Maintain adequate activity supplies and equipment in good condition to meet the needs and interests of residents, and ensure materials are available to residents.
- Conduct a quarterly LE program survey, and report on progress of activity program.
- Prepare and update monthly LE bulletin board and Wall of Veterans board.
- Support residents with mail/email/virtual communication needs.
• Recruit, orientate, and supervise volunteer programs and maintain records of volunteer programs. Communicate community's volunteer needs to the outside community.
• Participate in outside community planning related to interest of the community and arrange for the use of outside community facilities for the residents use.
• Participate in in-service program of the facility.
• Is knowledgeable to provide in-service training for staff regarding activity program, reality orientation, volunteer services, etc.
• Maintain professional confidentiality.
• May assist residents on outings which includes driving the company vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS •

Education: Two years of college from an accredited institution preferred.

Experience: Minimum 6 months required, two or more years preferred.

Job Knowledge: Awareness of special needs and dimensions of wellness for older adults; techniques and skills to engage residents with different interests and abilities. Leadership, professionalism, organization and budget skills. Ability to initiate, implement and complete projects. Familiarity with the community, social agencies, contacts with clubs and groups, and knowledge of sources of materials and local services; understanding and sensitively to residents' needs and feelings. Computer skills adapt to new technology.
