Medical Transport Management (MTM), a division of Medical Transportation Management, is hiring!

Description:

The Fleet Maintenance Technician Apprentice is an entry level role designed for individuals looking to build a long-term career in automotive maintenance. The apprentice will work under the guidance and supervision of experienced technicians, the apprentice will learn how to inspect, service, and repair a variety of vehicles.

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 12pm-8pm

Starting pay $27.00 - $28 per hour – based on experience

Essential Functions

  • Assist with routine inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Support technicians in repairing engines, brakes, suspension, steering, transmissions, and HVAC systems
  • Help with oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, and basic repairs
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept clean and in good condition
  • Follow all safety protocols and use proper protective equipment
  • Ensure all data is collected in the computerized maintenance management system collecting the complaints, causes, corrective actions and all labor and parts used
  • Participate in training sessions and classroom instruction as part of the apprenticeship program
  • Areas of training and repair to include but not limited to automotive vehicles, light duty trucks, powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis of wheelchair lifts
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behavior related to such
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Ability to take guidance from other technicians
  • Willingness to follow all company policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Be drug free and subject to Random Drug and Alcohol Testing as required
  • Ability to read and comprehend training materials
  • Demonstrate competencies in mechanical aptitude
  • Regular attendance is required

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Experience using general hand and power tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair preferred

Working Conditions

  • This job operates in a professional Shop environment
  • May be subject to adverse weather conditions during times of travel of site
  • May work indoors or outdoors
  • Exposure to hazardous situations, conditions and equipment that results in cuts, bruises or minor burns
  • Work inside enclosed vehicles or cramped workspaces underneath vehicles
  • Regularly wear protective gear, such as goggles, safety glasses, earplugs, or gloves
  • Exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers on a daily basis
  • Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable on a daily basis
  • Sometimes exposed to inadequate lighting conditions
  • Will sometimes work in cold or hot temperatures
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required

Physical Requirements

  • Requires close visual acuity when operating a computer
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle
  • Able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, crawl, and reach above their head.
  • Must be able to communicate with others and comprehend instructions
  • Requires light lifting and carrying
  • Must be able to move around an office environment
  • May require sitting in front of, and operating, a computer for extended periods
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
  • Regularly required to work while sitting, standing, walking, and use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment

Travel

  • Will be required to drive a company vehicle (failure to pass an annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background screen may result in termination of employment)

Supervision

  • This position does not involve supervision of direct reports
