Description:

EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE:
1. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an Accredited University or College.
2. Licenses Current Colorado RN License
3. Certifications Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
4. Experience Minimum of 3 years of Managerial experience, in a hospital setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Ancillary Services
1. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
2. Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
3. Oversee in the development and execution of operating plans and metrics for hospital programs, including financial and revenue growth, operations, labor management, supply management, equipment management, contract management, policies, practices and clinical outcomes.
4. Provides education and training
5. Develops budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure of ancillary services.
6. Develops and maintains effective relationships with physicians
7. Develops positive and effective work relationships with all levels of management and departments
8. Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to measure and assess the quality of services provided.
9. Coordinates and integrates ancillary services practices with nursing services and other clinical services
10. Participate in the development of ancillary managers, leaders, and teams
11. Periodically evaluates supplies and equipment for scientific merit, cost effectiveness and patient safety, making recommendation to Directors and Operations/Purchasing.
12. Oversight of Lab and Respiratory Therapy.
13. Other job related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Nursing Services
1. Assists the CNO in developing and managing the nursing services budget and ensuring sufficient number of qualified staff to assess patient needs
2. Ensures that continuous performance improvement initiatives are designed to measure and improve the quality of care delivered and are consistent with the organization priorities.
3. Represents the nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department leaders in designing and providing patient care and services
4. Fosters independence and autonomy in all staff members in areas of responsibility. Actively seeks those activities which promote/encourage independent thinking/problem solving behaviors
5. Assumes responsibility for continuing education and developmental needs
6. Participates in professional organizations and community healthcare related organizations as need is identified.
7. Assumes the role of preceptor/instructor for undergraduate or graduate nursing students upon request
8. Serves as a positive, professional role model
9. Regularly rounds on key constituents (patients, families, employees, and physicians) to enhance communication, ensure alignment, oversee operations, and that the experience is exceptional.
10. Policies and procedures consistent with recognized standards of professional practice and reflecting the intent of regulatory standards and maintain authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing services
11. Actively involved in creating a professional practice environment that encourages recruitment and retention of staff in the nursing department
12. Fosters a culture conducive to evidence-based practice
13. Ensures follow-up to patient complaints and occurrence reports is thorough and timely and all aspects of corrective action are in place.
14. Identifies system problems that may contribute to errors and monitors corrective actions to ensure effective resolution.
15. Develops and maintains close working relationships with physician colleagues and other healthcare providers in assigned areas. Collaborates with these individual to set goals for the areas or develops action plans for patient care or system improvements.
16. Oversight of the Trauma Program, Inpatient, Emergency Room, and Operating Room.

GENERAL DUTIES:
1. Direct nurses
2. Supervise nursing and ancillary services
3. Facilitate training opportunities for staff
4. Monitor and manage the work of the nurses and ancillary staff and their departments
5. Oversee department finances
6. Involved in disciplinary decisions
7. Serves as liaison between nurses and administration
8. Collaborates with other health professionals
9. Maintains compliance; government and facility regulations
10. Recommend and implement Evidence based practices and strategies to improve care
11. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
12. Oversee leadership for nursing functions
13. Responsible for creating a healthy, positive work environment
14. Collaborates, identifies, and problem solves with department heads
15. Collaborates with quality to improve patient care and patient outcomes
16. Develops, implements, and monitor policy and procedures
17. Identify opportunities for staff development and education
18. Peer Review coordinator- maintains records and assists CMO.
19. Responsible for reporting to local and state agencies.
20. Responsible for surveys and plan of correction.
Starting at $150K a year and up based on experience.
