Job Description

Kinder Morgan, Inc. is hiring a Scada Controller - CO2 in Cortez, CO. This is a full-time position, and requiring a high school.

What We Are Looking For

Use a SCADA interface and knowledge of operations to remotely monitor and control the equipment and operational processes that are associated with Kinder Morgan CO2 production assets, maintaining all related aspects within business and regulatory protocols for safe and compliant operations.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize Kinder Morgan's SCADA systems and processes for monitoring and control of the CO2 production facilities.
  • Respond, anticipate and make assessments for any abnormal conditions encountered on production equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations as outlined in the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Communicate critical information to Field Operations personnel and Management in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor production equipment pressures, temperatures, flow rates and other SCADA information for proper operating conditions.
  • Coordinate the fulfillment of production volumes to meet CO2 pipeline delivery demand.
  • Manage production volumes from multiple facilities in coordination with maintenance activities
  • Monitor incoming/outgoing volumes.
  • Monitor product quality.
  • Monitor facilities for power and/or communications failure.
  • Ensure smooth transition of shift turnovers through verbal and written communication.
  • Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.
  • Perform other production related duties as assigned.
  • Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications including, but not limited to, email.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record, and high level of job performance.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Work non-traditional hours (12-hour shift rotation is required to maintain a 24x7x365 operation); work schedule change may occur with little advance notice.
  • Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required and is anticipated.
  • Infrequent travel outside the job location area may be required.

What You Need

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must have basic math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, use fractions).
  • Gas compression experience preferred

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel)

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft applications (including, but not limited to, Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s) and lead personnel, focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules.

  • Good problem-solving skills, including the ability to utilize multiple resources to arrive at a solution.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, and maintain confidentiality as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to timely and effectively respond to audible and visual alarms.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office location near Cortez, CO
  • Secured, Control Center environment
  • 24x7x365 operation; 12-hour shift work; rotating shifts; work schedule change may occur with little advance notice
  • Unscheduled overtime is required and anticipated
  • Occasional but infrequent travel away from the assigned work location may be required
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a pre-employment drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employment.

PREFERRED Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
  • Five years direct work experience in gas production, compression and control is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of CO2 and crude oil terms and principles is a plus
  • Proficiency with SCADA programs is preferred
  • Mechanical familiarity with and understanding of pumps and compressors is helpful
  • Experience working in a 24x7x365 work environment is advantageous
  • Associate level degree in any discipline is preferred. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed.

Pay Range

USD $39.00 - USD $56.50 /Hr.
