Description:

Salary Range: $18.40 - $23.00 Hourly

Job Summary:

Maintain safety of reservoirs and water storage ponds, conduct release and storage of water in reservoirs in a safe and timely manner. Maintenance of supply equipment and properties. This seasonal position may be required to work weekends and Holidays.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Experience operating and maintaining raw water systems such as irrigation ditches, reservoirs, and headgates.
  • Experience Operating riding lawnmowers, weed whackers, trimmers, chainsaws, skid steer w/ attachments, and heavy equipment.
  • Basic understanding of water watershed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Follow the City of Greeley's safety policies and procedures as described in the Safety Manual.

Essential Functions:

  • Work weekends and holidays with a partner and solo.
  • Monitor high mountain reservoirs to ensure accurate calculation of water balances and compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and record reservoir levels, conduct raw water sampling and measurements and calculate flow rates.
  • Maintenance of grounds around Overland Trail Ponds
  • Use equipment such as a handheld GPS, riding lawnmowers, weed whackers, trimmers, chainsaws, and skid steer w/ attachments.
  • Maintenance of reservoir grounds including dam outlets, structures, roads, gates, fences, electrical structures, removal of driftwood, maintenance of ditches, and maintenance of operation cabins.
  • Preventive Maintenance of equipment, large and small, oil changes, and minor mechanical work.
  • Maintain dam safety – inspections and repairs, security of dam, and water. • Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders

  • Works on and around equipment such as riding lawnmowers, weed whackers, trimmers, chainsaws, skid steer w/ attachments, heavy equipment, dozer, backhoe, and front-end loader, etc.

  • The job frequently involves handling objects weighing up to 15 pounds, regularly handling objects weighing 30-50 pounds, and occasionally handling objects weighing 50-100 pounds in various positions, including above shoulder height.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
