Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins Fleet team is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Worker II to support technicians in keeping our vehicles in good condition so that they are safe, reliable, and can stay on the road. This position will work at the Transfort Maintenance Facility with a team of technicians, fuelers, and drivers in an up-to-date, well-equipped shop. Our fleet includes 50+ transit buses, both Natural Gas and Electric, and about 30 standard fleet vehicles that run in all kinds of weather and conditions.

Two shifts are available for this compressed work-week position: Monday - Thursday, 2: 00p-12: 30a, or Wednesday - Saturday, 2: 00p-12: 30a; these schedules earn 7.5% shift differential pay. Uniforms, safety shoes, and safety equipment are provided. CDL, relevant technology training, and licensing are provided if needed.

What qualifications are we looking for? Basic knowledge of automobile and/or truck repair and service. Ownership of basic vehicle repair tools like sockets, wrenches, and pliers. A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (can be obtained during the first several months of employment). We invite you to apply today!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
  • Repairs and maintains building, including door maintenance, painting, and burglar alarm inspection.
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain streets, sidewalks, and driveways at City shops.
  • Performs custodial duties such as cleaning building, sweeping, scrubbing floors and emptying trash.
  • Delivery and pick up of buses, vans, and support vehicles between locations.
  • Inspects vehicles and performs maintenance and minor repairs such as changing tires, replacing brakes and hoses, and checking fluid levels.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on shop equipment such as bus wash facility, vehicle hoists, air compressor, and fuel island and propane station
  • Operates fueling truck to provide on-site equipment fueling.

Required Qualifications

Experience Requirements

Certifications/Licenses/Specialized Training
  • Valid driver's license. Possess or ability to obtain: Valid Commercial driver's license with P2 and Hazardous Material certification, and Air brake endorsement. Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Type I & II Certification. Air Conditioning License Type I and ll. Air Brake Inspector's License.
