About the Role

We’re looking for a SEN Operational Manager to join our dynamic SEND & Inclusion Service team, which works with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Camden. This role is pivotal in ensuring that we deliver an exceptional service, strengthening our relationships with families, schools, and communities.

As the SEN Operational Manager, you will:

  • Lead the operational management of the SEN team to deliver high outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Implement the Children and Families Act 2014 (Part 3) and the SEND Code of Practice, meeting standards set by the Department for Education, Ofsted, and CQC.
  • Foster a supportive, relational approach with families, schools, and education providers.
  • Collaborate closely with children, young people, and families to ensure they’re active participants in the development and delivery of SEND services.
  • Play a strategic role in shaping the SEND & Inclusion Service, contributing to critical budget and service decisions.
  • Design and oversee processes to ensure compliance, ongoing improvement, and adherence to statutory timescales.
  • Develop a communication strategy that enhances service satisfaction and reduces complaints and tribunals.
  • Provide expert guidance to the Head of SEND & Inclusion, offering operational solutions and risk assessments.

About You

We’re looking for a skilled, experienced leader who is passionate about transforming the lives of children and young people with SEND. You should have:

  • Significant experience managing SEND services at a middle or senior management level.
  • Deep knowledge of SEND legislation and a track record of putting it into practice.
  • Proven experience collaborating with a diverse range of partners to improve service delivery.
  • Project management skills, creativity, and a solution-focused approach.
  • Strong team leadership abilities, inspiring high standards among colleagues.
  • Proficiency in using data to drive service improvements.
  • Confidence in advocating for SEND services and representing them at partner meetings.

Work Environment
This role requires being based in the Camden community at least 60% of the time, actively building relationships and enhancing service delivery. You’ll also manage four direct reports and oversee a team of up to 28 members.
