We are searching for the best talent for Senior Direct Materials Purchasing Manager to be in Juarez, plant Salvarcar.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Direct Materials Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Electrophysiology fast-growing business. This role is responsible for overseeing and developing a large team focused on optimizing material planning and purchasing processes. It requires strong leadership to drive team performance, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build a high-performing supply chain function. The role ensures continuous material availability to support operational needs in a multi-site environment while achieving financial and inventory targets. Additionally, it provides strategic direction to ensure adequate supplier capacity assessments are conducted to meet current and future demand.
The ideal candidate brings a continuous improvement mindset, is comfortable navigating high-complexity supply chains, and leverages technology-enabled solutions to drive operational efficiency and scalability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
o People Development: Supports team members’ professional growth so they can perform at their best and continue advancing in their careers.
o Purchasing Team leadership: Lead the Purchasing team to ensure the purchasing process is executed per established policies, secures timely availability of all required materials and components to support uninterrupted production. The team could include Purchasing Managers, Buyers, Planners Strategic Capacity Specialists, Supply Chain Technicians. Provides guidance and support to the team in identifying and solving problems effectively.
o Supplier Relationship Management as it relates to day-to-day activities such as purchase order placement, volume variations, operational issues, account payable issues, etc.
o Inventory Management and Slow and Obsolete Inventory: Develop, recommend, implement and track inventory strategies (such as vendor managed inventories, consignment, among others) to optimize stock levels, minimize costs, and always ensure product availability.
o Component Issue management: Engage and drive close cross functional collaboration with Source, Engineering, Planning, Lifecycle Management, R& D, Quality, among others, to proactively resolve issues and safeguard production continuity.
o Supplier Capacity Management: Perform supply base capacity assessments to identify capacity gaps, develop mitigation plans, and track projects along with project leader until completion. Additionally, this role will collaborate with project leaders to properly prioritize projects and resource allocation.
o Supplier Component S& OP Process owner: Lead and manage this process to ensure the effective planning, coordination, and alignment between the supplier’s component supply and the company’s demand forecasts to support production.
o Process Improvement: Identify and implement supply chain improvements through process optimization and digital tools.
o Financials: Develops and manages departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and adherence to financial commitments.
o Manages the timely distribution of material/components to external manufacturing partners to ensure alignment with production plans and prevent supply disruptions.
o New Product Launches: ensure timely availability of materials and components to enable successful validation activities and production ramp-up.
o Responsible for the process of Planning for subassembly materials to support uninterrupted production.
o Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
o Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
o For those who supervise or manage staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.
o Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
o Performs other duties assigned as needed
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
• Minimum of BS in Business, Finance, Engineering, Logistics.
• MBA in related fields a plus.
• 10-12 years of experience in Procurement, Materials Management or related areas (materials planning, master scheduling, inventory management, capacity management, etc).
• 5+ years of experience in Supplier Management and Collaboration with materials and/or components.
• 5+ years of experience developing Inventory Strategies such as Vendor Managed Inventory, among others.
• 5+ years of experience as a leader of large teams required.
• Experience in Medical industry preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge/application of specific IT solutions to optimize purchasing processes.
• Strong Project Management skills.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
• Advanced English Proficiency
• CPIM, CSCP by APICS, CPSM by ISM is preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt certified is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical reasoning.
• Strong leadership.
• Proficiency in Purchasing compliance practices.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and systems and Digital tools
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, complex and competitive environment
• Hands-on experience on SAP and/or JDE.
